Let's Talk About Citrine

I thought since I just added a few pieces of Citrine jewelry, I would tell you a little bit about it.

Citrine is a semi-precious gemstone, and a yellow variety of Quartz. It can come in very light yellow to brownish orange colors. The stone gets it’s name from the French word for lemon, Citron.

It’s warm color is said to be a gift from the sun, making it the perfect option for brightening up your day!

Carrying the power of the sun, the healing power of citrine is said to help release negative traits, depression, fears and phobias. Emotionally balancing, energizing and recharging, it’s also associated with positivity and optimism, which is not surprising given it’s cheerful color.

As a kid I never really liked the color yellow, I never wanted to wear yellow clothing, not sure why, guess I thought it wasn’t my color. But, as I got older, I’ve had a yellow kitchen, yellow furnishings, still not sure about any yellow clothing, lol….love yellow flowers, the sun, and now a love for citrine.

It’s a happy little stone!

As far as our jewelry, I owe my love of jewelry to my mother. She loved jewelry, most of all, unique, handmade pieces. We would go to all the art festivals around, shopping for that special something, it was great!

That’s probably why I handcraft many one-of-a-kind pieces and never mass produce any of them.

I love using mixed metals, semi-precious and natural stones, crystals, Czech glass, vintage and recycled items. It’s my creative outet!

Coffee Before Talkie

Our Coffee Before Talkie Tee is soft and comfy and on SALE! I thought I would share how I style one of my favorite tees. I wear mine with skinny jeans, a black and silver belt along with black booties. If it’s cold, you can add a black or a pop of color with a red, pink, any color will work, jacket or sweater.

It’s that time of year for candles. I’ve been busy making them, but unfortunately I haven’t had time to add them to the website. In the next couple of weeks, I will try to get all the scents and hopefully all the containers added. We will also be adding wax melts and room sprays!

Events for 2018

We have 3 events, so far, that we will be attending this fall.  It's been a few years since we've done any events, so we are busy making some Sexy Tough stuff!  The 3 events we have coming up are, Vintage at the Yard, Funky Market 209 (formerly The Funky Flea Market) and The Downtown Tracy Vintage & Antique Street Faire.  For more information, please go to our Events Page!  Hope to see you at one of these great events!

Don't underestimate our jewelry!

How many times do we go out and buy accessories for a specific outfit or occasion?  All the time?!  Do you end up wearing those earrings or cute little handbag with another outfit or just that one, that you purchased them for?  I'm sure if you are into fashion, you know better, that just because you bought that necklace for a black tie event, doesn't mean you can't pair it with a top and jeans.

Layering Necklaces

We've just added these three necklaces to our website.  From left to right:  Horseshoe, Crystal Bar and Spike Pendulum.  All fabulous on their own, but wear all three together and you definitely have a fashion forward statement look.

Layering necklaces is definitely a trend right now, not that it ever goes out of style. They can be worn with a top and jeans or even your favorite LBD. Wear one, double up, wear the trio or as many as you like, but keep in mind, to keep it stylish, which can be whatever your style is, as long as you feel good with what your wearing, that's what really is important!

Our Boho Hoops

Since our Brass & Cool Boho Hoops are on SALE, I thought I would do a little post on them.  These are an easy go-to, everyday, on trend, earring.  They come in 2 different metals, and with each metal, 3 different colors, that compliment the color of the metal.  Both the brass and silver have an unique design, that make them more than just your regular hoop earrings.

Pictured here are our Brass Boho Hoops with Sunshine Metallic (gold) Swarovski Crystals.  They're kind of a tone on tone with a little metallic shine.  They also come in Red (Swarovksi color Siam) , and Tangerine (orange).

Tis the season

I don't know about you, but I love candles, and I love them year around.  I just change what scents I burn, depending on the season and my mood.  The little flame sets a relaxing mood and the fragrance is great aromatheraphy!

I try to add items to the website when I can, but it's a one woman show and by the time I make something, it's off to one of the shops that have been so kind as to carry my handmade goods.

Fresh Colors for Spring 2017!

I know it's still winter, but if you're a shopper, a lover of fashion or you just know how retail works, you know spring things will be out shortly, if their not already showing up in stores.

These colors won't be the only ones out there, but you might be seeing these more than others in the upcoming season.  When designing new jewelry, I do keep in mind what the trendy colors are especially if I like them, which I do!

The new spring colors will also be used in home décor items, such as bedding, furniture and home décor.  Which is your favorite?

Happy New Year All!  Hope the first day of 2017 is going well.  Many of us feel that with a new year comes new possibilities, which is true, but new possibilities are always available to us.  Every day is a fresh start, if we want it to be.  Cheers to a happy, healthy and prosperous new year!

Hi there!  I don't know about you, but for me, September flew by and now the fall season is here.  One of the things that has come along with fall is the choker trend, and we are ready, because, we already have a great choker, our Looped Convertible!  This is an awesome piece, it's on trend as a choker and a wrap cuff bracelet!

Fall Trend 2016 - Military Jackets

Yes, again this year, the military jacket and vests are one of this fall and winter's must haves.  You'll find them in the original army green, along with other color choices, such as black and blue, to name a few.  Paired with pretty much anything from silky track suits and office wear to denim, florals, and frilly dresses.

I love partnering tough stuff with sexy or feminine pieces.  Shown here is an army green military jacket, floral top and our (Sexy Tough) Abbey Cross Necklace.  Just add pants or a skirt , oh and some shoes, too and you're ready to go!

Golden Eye

Good morning and happy Sunday!

I have to admit that I do like make-up and I like trying new looks.  One of the trends, in make-up right now, that will be carried through the end of the year, is gold eyeshadow!  I'm not a big gold fan, but, there are so many variations, that I'm sure I'll find something I like.  This look, paired with a nude lip, is perfect for day.

A golden eye with a dark pink or glittery red lip will be stunning for evening.  If you go for this look, I would probably opt for a more neutral blush, black eyeliner, and lots of mascara (but, I don't care what anyone says, you never want clumpy mascara, gross!)  You can always play with your make-up, so you find that perfect look.  Don't wait to try a new look, right before you head out the door.  If you've done this, you know what I'm talking about, it could end up badly and no Sexy Tough girl wants that!  Have fun!
